I went swimming on Easter Monday

On Easter Monday, I took my son swimming. We had loads of fun although he was a little scared of the water at first. I did about 10 laps and it felt good. I used my TYR Lycra Swim Cap and I didn’t let my hair get under the water because I wasn’t so sure how well this cap would prevent my hair from getting wet. Besides, I still had about 4 days till my wash day and I wasn’t prepared to deal with my hair just then (my hubby says I spend too much time on my hair
so I’m trying to reduce my wash days to once a week: I just looove washing my hair).
If you’re going to get your hair wet, I advise that you apply some conditioner to your hair before getting into the water to prevent chlorine damage to your hair. I think any basic rinse-out conditioner will suffice although there are some swimmer’s conditioners out there. E.g Ion purifying solutions Swimmer’s conditioner and Aubrey Organics Swimmer’s Normalizing Conditioner for Active Lifestyles.
After swimming, wash your hair with a Swimming shampoo. [Those conditioners I mentioned have their matching shampoos]. Follow with the Swimmer’s conditioner again and a deep condition if you can. I know that sometimes, we black girls are so scared of getting our hair wet because it spoils our styles and you have to go through a whole process of conditioning and drying your hair but don’t be: Have fun when you go swimming! Take care!
