Review: L’Oreal Mega Moisture Nurturing Creme

My current old moisturizing deep conditioner was Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner and I liked it because it was very thick and creamy. However, it doesn’t have much slip and I always have to use Silken Child Leave-In Detangler to detangle my hair afterwards.

I have therefore decided to look for a conditioner which moisturizes and gives slip so I can detangle my hair much easier. During my wash yesterday, I decided to try L’Oreal Natures Therapy Mega Moisture Nurturing Creme.

On the jar, it says, “Mega Moisture ® Nurturing Creme deeply moisturizes and detangles hair for improved smoothness, condition and manageability.

Other benefits: Sunflower seed oil softens and moisturizes dry hair for silkiness and shine. Rich emollients tame unruly hair and improve manageability”.

Its listed ingredients are as follows:

Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Cetyl Esters, Sodium PCA, Fragrance, Methylparaben, Trideceth-12, Sunflower Seed Oil, Chlorhexidine, Dihydrochloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Yellow 5.

It comes in a 16 Oz (473ml) jar and it has a creamy medium thick consistency and I didn’t have to use so much to get my hair fully saturated. This is a plus so I can get to use it at least a few more times. First, I did my prepoo with my Pre-shampoo oil therapy for about 20 minutes with no heat. My hair felt nice and soft afterwards. Next, I washed my hair with Elasta QP Shampoo for Relaxed Hair. After squeezing out the excess water from my hair, I applied the conditioner. The instructions say, “For deep conditioning, leave on for 2 to 5 minutes. Apply moderate heat for intense conditioning“. I used my heating cap for about 15 minutes and rinsed off.

My thoughts: It doesn’t have a memorable smell so I can’t talk much about that. When I tried to detangle in the shower, it didn’t have such an amazing slip although it’s a little better than Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner. My hair felt smooth and silky after rinsing off. It does contain silicone (amodimeticone) so if you don’t use silicones in your hair products, you might want to skip this one.

Verdict: Although it left my hair feeling moisturized, it had only an average slip. I want a deep conditioner which does both. My search continues.

What’s your favorite moisturizing deep conditioner with slip? Suggestions please.

my hair has stopped growing, heeellllpppp!

I have very good relaxed hair, very full and bouncy but i noticed lately that my hair has stopped growing.

    What do i do?

Could it be that your ends are breaking so the growth you experience is not reflected?
Or maybe some of your hair is in their catagen or telogen phase. Taking a hair vitamin containing MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) can help prolong anagen phase. e.g Hairfinity, GNC Ultranourish Hair.
      Are you stressed?
Massaging some essentials into your scalp could also help. A university of Maryland study determined that the combination of thyme, rosemary, lavender and cedarwood oil can help promote hair regrowth. Be careful when using essentiial oils: always dilute with a carrier oil e.g olive oil jojoba oil. Avoid if you’re pregnant, nursing or hypertensive.
If all fails, see a doctor. It might be a sign of an underlying disease e.g Hormonal irregularities.
BTW, do you take any medication regularly?
      Jibs, hope this helps.
