Let’s just chat

Hi everyone, how have you been? I’ve been okay…I haven’t done a length check since I retouched my hair: first of all, I couldn’t find my length check t-shirt. When I finally did, my memory card got spoilt (a lot of my pictures are now lost!). Fortunately, I have another memory card with some pictures there too.

I haven’t trimmed my hair since I retouched it: I was going to but someone asked me to do a post on how I trim my freshly relaxed hair. I know that the best way to do this is to do a video. I know that I should do more videos but I’m just lazy. I will get around to it soon I promise. Last week, I wrote some posts on HOW TO DETERMINE WHY YOUR HAIR IS BREAKING. Did anyone benefit from that? What hair issues are you having? I would really love to know: I always try my best to respond to e-mails as quickly as possible .

In other matters, I’ve decided to do a personal Greenhouse effect challenge till the end of the year.I usually do the Greenhouse effect once a week but I want to make it about 5 times a week. I have an old post on How I incorporate the Greenhouse effect into my regimen. Read it HERE.

Last night, I parted my hair in 4 sections (it’s always good to moisturize in sections so that you don’t miss any area). Next, I mist each section with a little Rose water + oil mix. Then I rubbed my sealing oil mix into each section. Finally, I wore a shower cap followed by a black hair bonnet and then a black beret. Before I went to bed, I took off the shower cap and rewore the bonnet. My hair was a bit damp so this morning, I lightly blow dried it with cool air and held my hair into a bun.

Anyone interested in joining me for the Greenhouse challenge? I’ll put up my ‘before pictures’ by next week.

I enjoy your site and can’t wait for new posts. I am only six months on my healthy hair journey and learn so much, especially on the breaking hair series. I am currently in braids, my hair is earlength/necklength, and never grew past shoulderlength and then it is only the back part of my hair, the front part never barely reach my middle, but I since six months ago I also never moisturized my hair, only used grease, so I am patiently waiting for any progress. I did the greenhouse effect once, but it felt like my hair just sweat alot, so I don’t know whether it is a good thing, the dampness is it “steam” or “sweat”? If you have any tips on growing and retaining length please share. 🙂

I’m glad you learnt a lot from the breakage series… about retaining length… I also have a series on that I’ll be publishing soon. I’m sure that you will see progress with your hair as you follow healthy hair practices. I know I have. With regards to the Greenhouse effect, that was probably steam..To do the Greenhouse effect without getting your hair too damp, when you come back from work, apply your oils and leave your hair for about 1 to 3 hours, depending on how much time you have. Take off your shower cap and leave your hair to air dry or blow dry with COOL air. Then go to bed. I’ll do something more detailed soon. Take care and thanks for your comment Beata

As soon as my braids are out I will definitely join you on this challenge. Sorry for the questions Doctor, but did you have long hair as a child, even shoulderlength is regarding as long where I come from…lol! My nape and the back side of my hair is really soft and there is barely any difference between new growth and relaxed hair, I’m thinking of not retouching it, I am now almost 10 weeks post, but will remain in braids for a further four weeks, is it a good idea to retouch my hair and leave the back side out, I want to try and see. I moisturize with Sta-sof fro braid spray on the bottle it says added lanolin protein, is this a problem? Can I have your email address for all my other questions? 🙂

Yes my hair was a little shorter than armpit length. Since your hair is really soft, I think you shouldn’t bother retouching it just yet. If you do, you should retouch everything with a relaxer for fine hair. Try Beautiful Beginnings for fine hair. I saw it at Shop Rite in the Palms, Lagos. Lanolin in general is theoretically not good for relaxed hair. However, if it’s working out great for you, you can still use it. My e-mail addy is dr_fomsky@thesizzlingmommy.com
