Length check Nov 2012 and a giveaway!!

Hello everyone… I’ve finally gotten around to doing a length check. My hair has grown I think but I’m not fully brastrap yet. It might be because I’m almost 5ft 9 inches but I don’t mind: I’m just happy where I am right now. (If you want to enlarge any picture, please click on it).

I also trimmed off about an inch off my ends. I did a video of how I trimmed but it’s basically similar to how Jeni from Justgrowalready.com does hers. The video didn’t come out quite as nice as I wanted it to. That’s one reason why I don’t do videos..but I’ll put it up soon.

After the trim, I was happy that my hair didn’t look much shorter.  In the picture before the trim, my hair was only blow dried. However, in the picture after the trim, I had stretched out my hair by rollersetting and wrapping afterwards.

To show how happy I am, I’ve decided to have a small giveaway. However, it’s only for my readers in Nigeria. I have 3 length check t-shirts to give out: (1) Small, (1) Large and (1) Extra-large. . If you are interested, leave a comment on any post on my blog (not this one!) and make sure you indicate your interest in a t-shirt and what size you want. I will accept comments till midnight on Sunday the 11th.  Afterwards, I will randomly pick the winners. Take care.

Hi Doctor Fomsky! 🙂 I was wondering, when did you start growing your hair? I want to know how long it’ll take to get this beautiful length you’ve got. I’m thinking of cutting all my hair and regrowing. The lengths are very uneven.

    • Dr_fomsky says:

I started growing out my hair January 2010 but I only took it seriously in about January 2011 when I started this blog. You don’t need to cut all your hair: you can just even it out. However, take note that the hair on our head grows at different rates. There are bound to be some areas longer than others.

I love reading your blog…..your hair is beautiful and I like the fact that u reply ur readers….I began my hair journey Febuary 2013 and so far it has been amazing but I’m having a problem with getting a regular supply of my hair products…most beauty stores here in PortHarcourt dont have them….especially Jamaican Black Castor Oil….the castor oil I found had petrolatum and mineral oil in it…and I cant use that….Please where can I get d hair products u listed and a lenght check shirt too…

    • Dr_fomsky says:

Thanks for the compliments dear. I just responded to your facebook message. You’re right about many of the beauty stores not having a supply of good quality hair products. That’s why I decided to open my online store. As for the length check t-shirt, I’ll throw it in as a gift if I have it in your size. What’s your size?

  9. Loretter says:

Yaaay!!!!…..tnks a lot….my size is medium…and pls dont forget to inform me when the products are complete..I’ll appreciate….

Hello, I only came across your blog now and I want to start the hair journey, however I find it hard to manage my hair after a while so I was wondering if it is very bad braid my hair in singles? And how would my regime have to change to still make sure my hair had minimum breakage! Thanks

    • Dr_fomsky says:

No. Lebo. It’s not bad to braid your hair in singles. The only thing us that you should be cautious: don’t make them too tight or keep them in for more than six weeks. When taking them out, to minimize breakage, detangle as you take out each braid. That way, you’ll lose less hair in the end.
Plus you can try spraying some liquid moisturizer on your hair to keep it from getting dry.

  12. Ifunanya says:

Dr. The issue I have with my hair is that it doesn’t grow since 2006. I have done the necessary treatment and have change my relaxer to kit (profective mega growth relaxer). Am now using organic detangular for kids to know what the problem really is. Some people will always tell me that is the weather in Nigeria. Does that affect the hair?

    • Dr_fomsky says:

Hi Ifunaya. To test if your hair doesn’t grow at all, you can dye a small portion with an obvious colour, say red. If your roots remain red and your original hair colour doesn’t emerge, then you have your confirmation. If that is the case, you might need to see a dermatologist or trricologist. If it does grow, then maybe it breaks more than it grows.
Plus I don’t think our weather prevents hair from growing.
