So you’ve decided to take better care of your hair. What next?

So you’ve decided to take better care of your hair this year but you’re not sure how.
- Give your hot tools a break for a while. If you like sleek styles, opt for roller setting and wrapping your hair afterwards. That will make your hair look like you flat ironed it.
- Start reading the ingredient list on every hair product you buy: try to avoid products that contain mineral oil, petrolatum and lanolin.
- Learn to comb your hair the right way: start from the tips and then the middle before you get to the roots.
- Learn the basic steps/terminologies involved in healthy hair care:
- You should condition your hair before washing your hair. This is called prepooing.
- Wash your hair at least once in two weeks.
- Deep condition your hair after washing your hair. Do this every time you wash your hair.
- Realize that your hair needs to be moisturized regularly just the way your skin needs to moisturized.
- After you moisturize your hair, you should rub an oil or hair pomade on your hair.

Please I want to know how I can grow my hair. It’s natural and I do not like fixing or using attachment. I would also like to know those hair styles my natural hair can do.
Thank you.
Growing your hair takes patience. Most people’s hair grows about half an inch every month. The most important aspect about growing your hair is maintaining that half inch that comes in every month. To do this, you have to regularly condition your hair, moisturize it often and since you’re natural, comb it very gently. How short is your hair? That can determine the styles you can do. You can air dry your hair in twists or braids. This will give it a curly appearance.
pls my hair is always breaking what should i do, and each time i plait attached my front hair is always cutting
Dealing with breaking hair depends on what’s causing it. I’ll send you an email tomorrow please so we can try to decipher what’s wrong.
Can you kindly inbox your email address, I have a few questions to ask
Dr_fomsky@thesizzlingmommy.com
Why avoid mineral oil? What are the disadvantages?
my front hair is always pulling out from the root what can be the cause of this? it is really giving me concern. thanks
When your hair pulls from the root, it is called shedding. It may just be a natural process but it can be worsened by several things. Do you frequently fix weave-ons or braids that pull the front of your hair? Did you just have a baby? What you can do about this is to pour a bottle of brewed coffee or tea on your hair after washing it. Leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse off your hair.
In addition, massage some oil into this area of your scalp two to three times a week.
the front of my hair is cutting, what do i do to stop it?
First and foremost, if you do Ghana weaving, you should stop completely. Tight braids and weave-ons are also a culprit.
To stimulate the front hair, you can try using essential oils. You can check http://vanityoils.com and http://naturalnigerian.com for a wide selection of essential oils. Mix them with olive oil or any other oil and massage into your scalp before you wash your hair.
Thirdly, massage your scalp with Jamaican castor oil every other night.
Deep condition your hair weekly, paying special attention to your ends.
Hope this helps!

Hi this site gives me hope.i have been struggling with hair loss and thinning of hair.could you please help me for hair loss and regeneration of hair
Thank you for the compliments on the blog. Is there a history of hair loss in females in your family?
To deal with hair loss, you can start with simple oils like Jamaican black castor oil. You can also add sublime sulfur and cayenne pepper to your oils.
Adding a combination of essential oils like lavender, cedar wood, rosemary and thyme to your favorite oil is a good recipe for treating hair loss.
Onion juice applied twice a day on the scalp has been shown to cause hair regeneration (if you can’t do this, once or twice a week then). Amla powder has also been touted as a hair growth stimulant.
Also, taking biotin and MSM pills can aid hair growth.
Minoxidil (Rogaine) might also work but I recommend seeing a dermatologist/trichologist first.
If this fails, you might need to see a dermatologist. He/she can determine if there are medical causes behind it and will prescribe treatments for you.
