Why I cut my hair!

Hi peeps! So, yesterday, I told you guys I cut my hair. A few weeks ago, I got tired of my hair and a cousin of mine was over at my house. She’s a professional hairstylist and I begged her to cut my hair.

So why did I cut my hair to neck length?

You can watch my short video or just read below.

1. Firstly, the bottom half of my hair is ‘texlaxed’ while the ends were just too straight. I was tired of dealing with the different textures and the overly straight hair. It wasn’t making my hair look full at all.

2. Secondly, I was having uneven hair growth: The middle part of my hair grows much slower than the back and the sides. I noticed that my new growth in this area is always less than the other areas of my hair. I felt that trimming it would help level out my hair.

  2. Your hair cut looks really cute. Do you plan on keeping it short or growing it out again?

Hey Dr. Any tips for extremely frizzy hair that holds no moisture?

    • Dr_fomsky says:

Hi Uma. You can try the following tips:
      1. Use a light protein conditioner every time you wash. Proteins help your hair hair retain moisture and reduce porosity. When you buy a conditioner, look out in the ingredient list for keratin but if you can’t find any, collagen, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, etc are also okay.
      2. Apple cider vinegar. Mix 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup (250 ml) of warm filtered tap water. After washing and conditioning your hair, do a final rinse with this mix. This can help reduce frizziness.
      3. Seal with a serum and possibly a butter i.e Shea butter.
      4. After moisturizing your hair at night, always tie a satin scarf. That will keep your cuticles lying flat by morning and reduce frizziness. Also, do this whenever you air dry.
      5. Use Roux porosity control conditioner. This will also help your hair retain moisture.
      6. Try rolling and setting your hair. That can also help reduce frizziness.
Hope these tips help you dear.

Hi doc, wao, you are “minded” o. Its so short but it’s for the best.

I would love to see styles you could do on neck length hair.

    • Dr_fomsky says:

Yes it’s so short!! lOL. My fav style right now are spiral sets, twist outs and braid outs: they look so nice on short hair! I just tried roller setting though and although it turned out ok, I still prefer my braid outs.

Thanks for sharing! That’s why i completely stopped texlaxing. My hair was looking like a hot mess! Too many diffent textures, much more tangles and thus breakage! And i was stressed because i had too manage to get the same results after every texlax. I had more volume but that was the only benefit. Now i’m back to relax and for volume henna and ayurvedic treatments help a lot!
