Wash day – 5th/6th September 2014

My last wash day was 10 days prior to this one. Yes 10 days. I usually wash my hair every 7 days or even 3 days if I’m in the mood.

    1. Applied Ouidad’s Salon Series OMEGA-3 Replenishing Hair Treatment to my hair. It contains a lipid called 18-MEA. Wore my heating cap for 5 minutes.
    2. I applied a mix of tea, amla powder, brahmi powder, Mill Creek Botanicals Henna conditioner, Mill Creek Botanicals Biotin conditioner and Franck Provost repair conditioner. Whisked them altogether to make a smooth mixture. Wore my heating cap for 30 minutes.
    3. Washed my hair with my cleansing conditioner. (Tea + shampoo + conditioner + tea tree oil).
    4. Applied my deep conditioning mix: Soultanicals conditioning dream (read my review here) + aloe vera juice concentrate + essential oils {of oregano, peppermint, cedarwood, thyme, rosemary, lavender} + rice bran oil + hempseed oil + avocado oil + olive oil + coconut oil. Covered my hair with a 2 plastic bags. Wore my heating cap. Fell asleep. Woke up in the middle of the night and took it off and went back to bed…LOL. Put on my satin bonnet. Covered my pillow with a towel.
    5. In the morning, my towel was a bit damp but nothing too bad.
    6. Rinsed off the conditioner while taking my shower in the morning. I didn’t feel like the conditioner had gotten absorbed at all.
    7. I sectioned my hair into 5 and applied argan oil first to seal in the moisture.
    8. Next, I applied my leave-in conditioner (Pura body naturals murumuru moisture milk) to each section and detangled. I had more breakage than I normally do..I think it’s because I hadn’t washed my hair in over a week or maybe it was this Soultanicals conditioner which didn’t do a good job of conditioning my hair!wpid-2014-09-08-14.24.42.jpg.jpeg
    9. Put my hair in 5 single braids. Did some house chores.
    10. Sat under my dryer for an hour when I had the time.
    11. Undid the braids and my hair didn’t feel so conditioned. I had to remoisturize my hair with Hairveda Red Satin moisturiser and seal with Naturalista cosmetics Juicy Yummy moisturiser.
    12. Put my hair back in two braids.

I’m so terrible at doing cornrows!! LOL!

I had eye surgery recently so I haven’t been leaving my house. I do the braids to remoisturize and redo them. When I do get to leave the house, I undo the braids and have a braidout! On this wash day, I think that the only thing that changed was the addition of the Soultanicals conditioner so I won’t be using it again. Back to regular programming!!
