2014 in review – Battle of the moisturizers part 3 – The winner

Hi guys. 2014 has been a year of experimenting for me. Yeah experimenting. When I cut my hair last year, I felt so liberated and was no longer driven to grow my hair long. My main hair goal became healthy looking hair. This year, I have delved my hands in different techniques and products. Over my next few posts, I will be discussing the techniques and products I tried out in 2014, the ones I liked and the ones I didn’t.

First up is moisturizers. Why? If you are like me, this has been the most difficult product for me to settle on my entire hair journey. I have tried different types from S-curl to ORS carrot oil to Elasta QP mango butter to Darcy Botanicals transitioning cream, etc. I decided to do a  battle of moisturizers and I mentioned them in this post HERE.

I did like the Pura Body Naturals Sapote hair lotion but my main problem with it is that it made my soft initially but didn’t keep it soft like I wanted. Plus it made my hair revert and frizz up. Most hair moisturizers do that and yes I know that bloggers always say moisturize your hair but I just don’t want my hair to frizz up all in the name of moisturizing my hair. I hope I am not blabbing 😛

Anyways, I have ‘settled’ on Hairveda Red Tea Satin Moisturizer as my best daily moisturizer for my relaxed hair because when used in LITTLE amounts on my roller set hair, it doesn’t revert. My major qualm with this moisturizer is that when you apply it first, your hair doesn’t feel soft. Give it like 12 hours and your hair feels like silk. Very strange phenomenon! I still like the Pura Body Sapote lotion but it makes my hair lose its silkiness. It is however nice on my daughter’s natural hair.

Anyways, Happy New Year to everyone. Much love. Look out for MORE posts from me in the new year!! HUGS!
