#FitnessFriday: Hide your snacks away!

Hi people. Today, I want to talk a little about snacking. One of the things that can hinder weight loss is snacking and I LOVE to nibble…a little here and a little there.

When I decided to re-embark on my latest weight loss journey, one of the things I did was to stop taking unhealthy snacks.
I am trying to learn how to make my own snacks AND opting for fruits & veggies. I always have plain yoghurt, bananas, strawberries or grapes around the house. I also like to nibble on carrots sometimes. Be careful with fruits though because taking too much of them can also be a hidden source of extra calories. Veggies, on the other hand, have way less calories.

I really do try to be as disciplined as possible but sometimes, I have a problem controlling my desire to nibble. To deal with this, I knew that I had to get ‘healthy’ substitutes for my sweet tooth. I finally got my hands on some ‘healthy’ cookies to deal with my cravings. However, the problem with them is that even though they are low-sugar, they can still help you pack the calories. The same thing goes for those other so-called healthy snacks e.g crackers & granola bars. One of those bars is between 85 – 150 calories depending on the brand. If you are like me, you can end up eating two or three of them at a go. 😛

So, guess what I did to my ‘healthy’ cookies? I kept them in the storage room behind my house. I must confess that I do go there once a day to take one or two cookies but that’s it for the day. I don’t keep going back because it’s not convenient. I used to love snacking just before bedtime but now that they are far away, I don’t have such an easy access to them. When I think about having to go outdoors to get them, I just forget about them. 😛 If you think that hiding your snacks away could help you but you don’t have any outdoor storage, you can put them on the top of a high wardrobe or cupboard or anywhere you think would be inconvenient for you.
What other ways have you changed your snacking habits?
