A new direction + 2016 = wig regimen!!

Thank you for all your kind words and encouragement in my last post. They truly warmed my heart. I appreciate them deeply. You have inspired me. It is true that I would appreciate more comments. Yes comments are nice but if the truth be told, I don’t make a comment on every blog post I read on the internet. Blogging is in my blood so I will continue to blog through each life season, comment or not. 🙂

I am glad that I started my new blog. I have published at least 20 posts there in a little over a week. So, I now understand the major reason why I wasn’t feeling motivated. I have been blogging about hair for 5 years and I think I needed to be able to talk about my other interests. When I started working on the new blog, my mind was flooded with so many things to talk about. I am now motivated to resume working on this blog too because I feel liberated and renewed. I am however still thinking of a name for my new blog. What do you think about inspirationandlifestyle.com or beyondbeautyonline.com? Any suggestions please?

Secondly, I intend to publish at least one post on this blog every other Sunday. Can you please keep me accountable? If I don’t publish at least once in two weeks, please send me a message on dr_fomsky@thesizzlingmommy.com.

So, let’s talk about my wig plans shall we?
Confession: I have a terrible hands-in-hair addiction! Plus in the last three years, I have hardly done any protective styles. This year, I have decided to do something completely different with my hair: MANIPULATE IT LESS. Manipulation has a direct relationship with hair breakage. The more you manipulate your hair, the more breakage you experience. This is especially true for our Black/African hair.

To achieve less manipulation, I do cornrows first. With this, I have no access whatsoever to my hair. I prefer not to go out with the cornrows so I wear a wig on top of this.

To start with, I purchased two wigs from a Nigerian-based company: Hair by type 4. One was custom-made and the other ready-to-wear. They both have lace closures. You can contact the owner (Lade) by sending an email to hairbytype4@gmail.com.

Please ma I need your help. I have a very serious dandruff and its causing serious hair breakage that i’m even contemplating cutting my hair.i’ve tried even the craziest concoction, yet its still worse that I can’t carry any hairstyle more than 2weeks. Pls help! I’ll really appreciate it if u can mail me it suggestions, thanks.

    • Dr Fomsky says:

Hi Happiness. Try applying coconut oil in your scalp overnight. That will help loosen the scales. Then wash with an anti-dandruff shampoo. You can also apply tea tree oil to your shampoo and/or conditioner. Try not to apply oil on your scalp. If it’s as bad as you say it is, I advise that you also see a trichologist

I love beyondbeautyonline.com. Low manipulation is the way I want to keep my hands far away as possible from my hair unless on wash days.

I was so happy when I saw you had a new post up. I like beyondbeauty.com without the online. Anyway I am sure any name you choose will be fine.

  5. Nedoux says:

    Hi Doc,

I did a major trim at the start of the year to get rid of the thin bits.

This year, my protective styles will be really protective in every sense of the word, not the sort of protective styles that are undercover disasters like sew-in weaves for example. The thread used for sewing used to break my hair.

I plan to stick to a regimen of switching between roller setting my hair, wigging and african threading.

Your wig looks great on you.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

I never thought that the thread used in sew-in weaves could break hair. Important revelation. Thanks for the compliments on my wigs. Yes I saw your post on African threading. Nice on you.

Im trying crotchet braids and wigs this year. Dont really have a hand in hair syndrome just tired of bothering with it. I’ll do my hair myself and be able to change up every 2 weeks. That way i will be able to deep condition and care for the hair.

  7. Becca says:

Nice, I like both of the names but I think the inspiration one carries more depth 🙂 I plan to be in crochet braids for at least 9 out of 12 months. I have seen the length and retention that protective styling can give.
