Wash day and Ghana weaving!

Hi dearies. Over the last few months, I have been doing a lot of experimentation with products and that’s one major reason I haven’t been posting anything: I didn’t want to get y’all confused. 🙂

Anyways, I’ve decided to let you back into my wash days even though I’m still an experimenter!

Prepoo: Aveda damage remedy conditioner on dry hair. Jamaican black castor oil mixed with peppermint oil on my scalp. I sat underneath the standing dryer for abour 20 minutes.

Shampoo: Aveda dry remedy shampoo. This shampoo is quite gentle. I think you need to lather twice to get that clean feel. However, my hair was still soft and untangled after rinsing out the shampoo.

Deep condition: Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Penetrating Hair Treatment. I left this on for about 7 minutes (no heat). I was able to use this conditioner to detangle my hair in the shower.

Leave-ins: Jojoba oil, Nothing but Melted Shea butter leave-in conditioner

Drying: Air-dried hair. See that shrinkage! Relaxed hair shrinks too! 🙂

Styling: Cornrows/Ghana weaving. The braider used Lottabody Wrap Me Foaming Mousse with Coconut & Shea Oil to comb through my hair and make the cornrows sleek as possible.

Thoughts: My hair is currently 2 weeks post-relaxer and was extremely easy to comb through. I lost very minimal hair while coming through my hair.

Please tell me about your most recent wash day experience.

See ya real soon!

Kisses!

  1. Welcome back, Doc. Your braids look very nice. My wash day was fine. I did a curlformer set that immediately frizzed up because of the rain. It’s okay though. I just wanted to stretch my hair out.

Just washed my hair today actually. used black soap to wash and then I put almond oil on my scalp. First time doing this and it is not for any particular reason but I am out of all my products< so this will have to work 🙂

Necessity is the mother of invention! It’s been a while I used black soap to wash my hair but I do not remember having any issues with it. And almond oil is also not bad for the scalp. Thanks for passing by dearie!

Good to have you back. you were missed. All that shrinkage show your hair is in a good place health-wise. Really nice
